Breastfeeding/Fever during breastfeeding

Question
Hi, my son is two weeks old and he is doing absolutely awesome at breastfeeding. My husband woke up this morning and was complaining that he had a sore throat and he would get dizzy when we would stand up. Now I have the same symptoms and I am running a 100.5 temp. I heard that Tylenol will work, but is there anything else that needs to be done and will my son get sick as well?

Answer
I am not a doctor so i cant tell you anything about the illness you have or tell you what kinds of meds to take. I can however, tell you as far as nursing your son, yes you should nurse nurse nurse nurse. As your body fights whatever this is , it makes antibodies an then transfers them to the baby. If you take tylenol it wont effect the baby through your milk.  Nursing your baby is the best way to prevent your baby from getting sick. nurse through any illness for this reason. If you stop nursing you increase his chance of getting sick for longer and quicker as he isn't protected with the fresh antibodies :)

I hope you both get better soon :(
