Question
Hi I am 17 weeks and started noticing colostrum around 15 weeks.  I guess I am making about 1 tsp/day for both breast.  When I mention this to other moms and my OB, they seem surprised by this. Is this abnormal?  What does my current supply mean for me after the birth as far as engourgement, supply?  One mother mentioned amounts in drops following birth, mine is already squirting out if I gently pinch my nipple on purpose or accident.

Answer
Its not common but there isnt anything wrong with you  really. every now and again there are women who make milk while they are pregnant. Its rare but it does happen. it will change according to gestational age of the baby, you are more likely to have an over abundant supply after baby is born. thats about the only thing you want to try for . that makes it easy to pump and store milk if you want, but you dont have to. after about 8 weeks or so your body will adjust to what the baby needs. watch for engorgment after baby and what to do for it etc so you are prepared.

Good luck!
