Question
I have a 4 month old baby whom I breastfeed. The first day of my first period after the birth of the baby was April 19. It's May 22 and I haven't had my period for this month. I wanted to know whether it is possible for the menstrual cycle to be irregular when breastfeeding?is there any possibility I am pregnant again?

Answer
yes, its VERY possible for your cycle to be irregular while nursing. especially while your milk fluctuates. if you started solids, this is likely why it came back so quickly as the body percieves this as weaning and adjusts your hormones to get ready to get pregnant again.

Yes, its also possible to get pregnant again if you had sex. I would take a test if you suspect it and if you are trying to avoid it , use appropriate protection.  If you are pregnant, you can still nurse while you are pregnant unless you had a spontaneous premature birth ( meaning the baby was early NOT because of an induction or ceserean but was born because nature wanted it that way )

good luck!
