Question
When baby was born I tried to breastfeed for the first few days. During the stay at the hospital the nursery nurses did give him formula. When we went home I was still trying and to be honest I gave up and the husband went and bought some formula. Ever since then he has been strickly formula fed eating 4 ounces every 4 hours. I would like to breastfeed due to the many benefits and the bonding time. I know it is possible I just need a little bit of help/advice on how to get started.

Answer
Get a double electric brand pump and pump every 2 hours for the next couple weeks. ( including at night. for about 10-15 minutes. you can take mothers milk tea and fenugreek capsules to help build milk. Get the baby to latch on asap and start nursing from you. Purchase a SNS ( supplimental nursing system ) and feed formula through that until your milk comes in and start doing breastfeeding training asap. Get in touch with a local councelor at www.llli.org and make a game plan with her . She can help you get the baby nursing also.

good luck! and your making a much better choice so pat yourself on the back :)
