Question
Hello, i was prescribed the ospexin drug and flagyl for an infection of my episiotomy wound. I just had my baby July 27th and my wound was not healing and got pretty infected to the point i could not sit or lie down. I did my research and opted not to take the flagyl but have taken the ospexin. The lessor of the two evils. My newborn has been so uncomfortable and having constant diarrhea and crying. I still have one day to go and may need more antibiotics as i am still not healing well. Do you recommend that i give my baby formula via bottle? I am scared that she will not go back to the breast. I am a very natural person and do not like taking drugs or using products that are not organic. Please help i am so worried for my little girl

Answer
I wouldnt reccomend giving the baby formula. I would recommend asking for a breastfeeding friend antibiotic if you have to take them again. You can also put freshly expressed breastmilk on your infected area as there are live antibiotics in breast milk that work better than neosporin most of the time...  you can also take acidopholus and get some for the baby too to help the gut get back to normal. that alone might make the baby feel better. formula will likely make it worse.
good luck~!
