Question
My daughter-in-law wanted to breast feed but Jacob wouldn't latch on so the hospital recommended breast pumping and feed in a bottle. It is just to painful to pump she has decided to quit pumping. Has switched Jacob to Smilax. She is now in a lot of pain she hasn't pumped for 16 hr. what can she do other then
warm showers to relieve some milk, and cold cabbage leaves to slow the milk. neither seems to help for any length of time.
tylenol is not helping either

Answer
I would suggest that she start pumping again and give the baby that instead , I would also suggest that she use lansinoh cream or a breast cream while she is pumping so that the friction no longer hurts her. Then she can pump , he gets the best, and she isnt in pain.  to quit that fast and not wean off is going to be very hard for her. it needs to be done much slower. otherwise shell be at the cabbage leaves etc for longer... She still has milk obviously, so proper pumping would be the best easiest fix to the issue.
