Question
Hi I am writing to you just to see if you can be of help. I have been breastfeeding my little monster for 10 months now. We have a great breastfeeding relationship. My question isnt actually about breastfeeding itself but rather the side effects to mama.

So I know that reguardless of mama's diet baby always gets exactly what they need wheather they take it away from their mommy. I have been experiencing bald spots on my head within the last month or so. They range from a size of a pea to the size of a loonie. I have gotten my thyroid check and its 100% okay. So my question is, can breastfeeding do this to me? My dr didnt seem to know much about breastfeeding at all. And if this could be the reason  should I be uping my vitamin intake to help with the shedding?

Thanks in advance.

Answer
This is more post pregnancy hormones, not actually a breastfeeding issue. Even if you were not nursing this would happen. It is usually a mineral /vitimin issue so yes, I would suggest taking your prenatals again. Or going to a health food store and getting a whole food vitimin that will help balance your hormones as a woman :) I cannot reccomend kinds as it is out of my scope of practice. However, since you have already seen a medical doctor, this would be my next guess.

I hope that helped!
