Breastfeeding/Hyperthyroid, does it affect my baby

QuestionPrior to my pregnancy, I was diagnosed with hypothyroid. My Synthroid was increased throughout the pregnancy. He was born in October. At my 6 week postpartum appointment, we checked it and it was fine. Recently I started feeling differently and thought that I might need to have it checked. I was still taking 88 mcg of Synthroid, the last increased dose. Last Thursday, my son, who is now 3 1/2 months old, started having green watery stools after almost every feeding. This week I found out that my thyroid had turned to hyperthyroid. My doctor is in the process of readjusting my medication. After all that, my question is, will my thyroid cause the green stools that I mentioned, and if not, what would cause this problem?
AnswerThis is often caused by what we call fore milk and hink milk. But now and again it isnt explainable. Instead of switching sides when feeding, as an example you feed on the right ride to start, then after a bit , most women switch sides. instead, You can just give the baby that right side again. the next feeding use ONLY the left side. the green stool is often because they nurse only to get formilk on the one side not the fatty milk in the back.
Thyroid issues don't usually effect the baby but they can effect you. SO please do keep up on it , watch for depression and continue meds as needed.
I hope that helped!
