Breastfeeding/Low Supply

Question
Hi,

I have a 8 month old little boy with a milk protien allergy. I have been completly dairy free since he was 7 weeks old. He has been gaining weight and growing wonderfully. He is a happy little boy. About a week ago I got a "tummy bug" and my milk supply decreased significantly.

I am a working mom so I nurse when I am home but my son gets a bottle of breast milk while at day care. I pump. I normally pump at least once every 4 hours and I use to be able to pump about 8-9oz. Now I am lucky if I get 5.

My son has also recently started eating some solid foods, but I am getting worried that I will dry up. He can not handle any formulas (we have tried) so breast milk is his only option right now.

What can I do to get my supply back?

Thanks for your help.

Answer
the 2 biggest things you need to do, drink LOTS of water, keep hydrated and get some metamucil :) I know it sounds funny but gastric motility ( not when you are sick ) gets your supply up better than most things without side effects :) You can also try fengreek capsules, and mothers milk tea. All of which you can get at a health store.

I hope that helped! Good luck! don't give up, pumping more often will help as well!
