Breastfeeding/Menstration after having a baby.-When will I begin again-

Question
My son is almost 6 months old now, and I am breastfeeding & supplementing with formula since I am not producing enough milk, and also beginning baby cereal/baby foods as well.  Just wanted to know about when I should be starting my period again.  I haven't yet.  Will it not start until I am completely finished with the breastfeeding?

Answer
This is all based on hormonal levels in each individual. You may get it quickly or it may take months. Unfortunatly there is no way to tell for sure. It may not start for a few months after you stop nursing or it may come back next month. Be carefule with pregnancy as well because if you are not on birth control, you will ovulate before you have your period and can get pregnant at that time.

Good luck!
