Breastfeeding/Breastfeeding

Question
Hello,
I am a new mom (son is only 5 wks!) and i've always how long should you
breastfeed? I've heard people say they breastfed until the child was 5 and I know
that is waaayyy too long.

Answer
The academy of pediatrics says babies should be breastfed for one year but preferably 2. Babies will naturally wean themselves between 3 and 5. Some will wean much earlier than three but the best guideline is to wean when your baby is ready as then you know the baby has a mature immune system.
