Breastfeeding/Period while nursing

Question
I have been nursing full time, and when my daughter was 10 months, out of
nowhere, I had a very heavy period, but no cramping.  The next month I
expected to have another period, but nothing came.  Was this an actual period,
or something else?

Answer
It was likely a period. Sometimes as your hormones adjust to not nursing as much as you did when the baby was a newborn it takes a while to get back into a regular cycle. It will even out eventually but hormones are still fluctuating now. Nothing to worry about unless it is bothering you for some reason or you are anemic and continually have heavy ones etc. Or of course if you have pain. You could have an on again off again period for a while. If you have other concerns you should ask your doctor to make sure.

I hope that helped!
