Breastfeeding/URGENT! : medical abortion and breastfeeding
Expert: ruth kraft - 12/29/2010
QuestionHello there,
Pls do reply me ASAP.. I am a mother of a 5 month old and is breastfeeding... My LMP was on 30th November.. I usually get the periods 2-3 days before my actual due date.. This time I had not got the periods so.. I suspect that I am pregnant.. I would be more than happy to go with this, but I want to breastfeed my baby for 2 years.. Moreover, I fear that if I go with this, she might not get the attention and care that she is required to get at her age... I have only breastfed her, no formula feeding or solids... I plan to start on solids once she complete her 6 month, which is by day after tomorrow...
What I want to know is, can I opt for a medical abortion? The country I live is against abortion. So, how can I take the pill at home? If I am taking the pill, what are the side effects for me and my 5 month old baby? Can I take the pill and breastfeed?
I would be grateful if u could please give me a solution ASAP.
Thank you
AnswerThese are questions that need to be asked to a doctor. You can check safefetus.com and see if any medication you want to take effects nursing this way, however, if you are wanting to keep the baby you can continue nursing AND breastfeed. It is called Tandem nursing. If you google that it will help you understand how to nurse 2 babies at once. Children are far more resilient than you know. It won't likely bother your baby as much as you think it will.
Sorry I couldn't be more help but I am not a medical doctor.
Best of luck!
