Question
My 9 weeks old takes only 2-3 oz every 3 hrs. He takes an oz then falls asleep, wakes up again after 15mins and ask for more. He is only on breast milk. How do i solve this problem. Is 2-3 oz enough for my baby. It seems too little and he should be drinking 4 oz every feed and wait for 3 hrs, is that correct?

Answer
it is fine for your 9 week old. 3 ounces is alot. Breastmilk is made differently than formula, they dont need nearly as much breastmilk as there isnt alot of waste product. Formula is half product that can't be digested.   Waking every 3 hours for a 9 week old isnt a problem. Its normal and whats best for the baby.  eating more frequently is MUCH better for him than more in a sitting and longer periods of time. even most adults dont wait 4 hours until they get a snack or meal.
