Breastfeeding/Breastfeeding

Question
Hello!

I'm currently breastfeeding my 3 month old, have returned to work and have been pumping for caregiver to bottle feed during the day.  It's been working out really well and I was wondering how long she actually needs to be on breastmilk?  I've read that it's recommended for the first 6-12 months and am committed to doing so but am a little confused as to when breastmilk or formula isn't needed anymore.  Is there an approximate cutoff for breastmilk/formula?

Just wondering!!
Michelle

Answer
the academy of pediatrics reccommends that babies be EXCLUSIVELY on breastmilk for at least 6 months . then supplimented with solid foods until 12 months at least but preferably 2 years. Formula never comes into the picture. Breastmilk is far superior than formula on every level. They dont reccommend it unless its absolutly needed.
