Question
I am considering taking a trip w/ my husband for our 5 yr anniv. in Sep.  My daughter will only be 11 months old and I am fearful she will wean herself while im gone. She will be getting my milk only while we're gone, but i nursed my son til he was 22 mo (which is when he self weaned) and would be pretty upset if I couldnt nurse beyond a yr.  How likely is it that a baby will wean on own when separated for a week?  If she would wean, is it likely she would still be willing to take my milk in a bottle and when baby is that age, would the pump be sufficient in keeping my supply up?  I realize each child is different but just curious of my chances that she might just pickup where we left of...Oh and we could delay our vaca, but this is when we have the opportunity to use someone's timeshare...so just financially our option.
Thanks so much for your advice!

Answer
Anything is possible that she could wean over the week but not likely. She is at the point where she realizes not only that milk is great but the bod for nursing is strong as well because it helps her connect with you. Babies don't only nurse for nutrition. they nurse for comfort and connection as well. My guess is , when you come back, the first thing you can do is offer your breast. I bet shell take it right away and be very glad to see you :)

Yes the pump if its a good one should be enough to keep your milk up. Go enjoy your vacation and shell be ready for you to come home... just as you will to see her :)
