Question
my sister is breast feeding and wants to know why her baby is sick. she said that the doctor told her if she breast fed that the chances of the baby getting sick are slim to none.

Answer
depends on what is wrong with the baby. The doctor is right , the chances decrease dramatically when you are nursing that a baby will get sick. But it doesnt mean that the baby wont EVER get sick. What is does mean is that if the baby wasnt nursing, it would have gotten alot sicker than it was and the illness would last longer because it didnt have the anti bodies in the breastmilk. Encourage her to continue nursing. it is the best way for the baby to get better quicker.
