Breastfeeding/Drying up breast milk - when to start treatment

Question
I am expecting my first baby in 6 weeks time.  I am unable to breastfeed as I need to get back on medication for gastroparesis.  When should I commence taking sage extract and sudafed in order to dry up my milk.  Do I need to wait until  my breasts become engorged and my milk comes in or should I start directly after my c-section.  Many thanks,
Ruth

Answer
I would first check on www.safefetus.com and dr.Hales breastfeeding and medication website before you decide to not breastfeeding. If you have already done that, then I think using the sage and cabbage right after birth would be fine. I am not aware of a recommendation to wait until your breasts are engorged. You should be able to start long before that.

I hope that helped!
