Breastfeeding/Keeping up milk supply

Question
Hi,
I have an 8 week old that I exclusively breastfeed about every 3 hours.  I was recently diagnosed with a bacterial infection and prescribed an antibiotic that is not recommended for nursing moms.  This is the only antibiotic I can take due to my many allergies.  I need to be on it for 7 days.  Can you tell me how I can keep my milk supply so that I can resume breastfeeding after my antibiotic treatment?  Also, would you recommend I wait an additional 1-2 days after treatment to make sure it is out of my system prior to resuming breastfeeding?

Answer
I reccomend checking the site www.safefetus.com to find out how long the medication stays in your body. Pump every 2-3 hours to keep your milk supply up and eat extra fiber as that will be helpful as well. This should work well to keep it for a week or two with no issues.

Good luck!
