Breastfeeding/Got very sick, think I lost my milk

Question
My son is 6 months old now, and just yesterday, I became very sick. I was vomiting and had bad diarrhea. I could not keep anything down. Water, sprite, chicken broth, nothing. I was feeding him just fine yesterday. My milk supply was fine. This morning I wake up and my breasts are totally flat. And my milk does not come in even with stimulation. I still haven't eaten much, but I've had plenty of water today. Is it possible to get my milk back or are my days nursing done?

Answer
Yes, absolutly. Keep nursing. Becoming dehydrated in the problem but you have to keep nursing. Baby is getting some out even if a pump wont. and it will be filled with the antibodies of the flu you just had. So keep nursing. Milk will come back easily. Just in general your breasts will not fill up as much as they did before as well though because he is 6 months old and milk becomes more "condensed" if you will. Babies nurse for shorter periods of time but you will always have the milk as long as you keep nursing :) It is all done by supply and demand :)

Get well!
