Breastfeeding/Chemicals passing through to breast milk

Question
I was reading a 2006 answer on this site about sugar and caffeine passing through (or not) to breast milk.

Do fake sugars (e.g., nutrasweet) pass to the baby through breast milk?

I've been giving up diet soda because I've been worried it does pass through, but as a result I'm drinking large quantities of caloric juices, regular sodas, and other drinks - not so great for the waistline!

Do sweeteners pass through?

Thank you

Answer
Everything passes through to the breastmilk but it is a rare thing that is dangerous. I have not read any studies about nurtasweet in particular but try to look on  www.safefetus.com or go to drjacknewman.com and email him as he does many studies himself and may know.
