Breeding and Showing Cats/cat pregnancy

Question
QUESTION: hello my cat mated with a guy then after a week of mating she stopped and bled one night. she hasn't done it in 2 weeks thank god but she has been acting weird.

she isn't as playful but more sleepy and i just filled up the cat food bowl and before my other female cat could eat she ate the whole thing and started to meow so i gave her more and she ate half of that!! is that normal??

most of my friends say that that isn't normal for a cat that is 2 almost 3 weeks pregnant.she has been sleeping in the den for almost 6 hours a day and lately when we wake up we find a pile of barf every now and then.is this also normal considering how early she is??

i know that she is exactly that much pregnant because i saw the matings every night under my dads truck!!!!!

ANSWER: HI Kasadee

I would agree that it isn't normal for a cat at this stage of pregnancy so I would suggest that you get her checked out by a vet in case there is any infection present.

She should be behaving as she normally does until around 5/6 weeks when the kittens would slow her down so to be tired at the moment is not normal and could indicate an infection.

QUESTION: when i said that she bled well today i found a baby kitten that is the size of a quarter dead across the house!!

do you know why??

Answer
It certainly sounds as if there may be some infection there s that is definitely not normal.  If you could recognise it as a kitten are you absolutely sure of your dates as at 3 weeks you are unlikely to be able to recognise it as any such thing.

Yes I think a trip to the vet would be best in this case.

I can give answers on cat breeding and showing having 'served' over 30 years in this particular field. I head up a Yahoo Group and also a cat club (NBA Cat Club) devoted to educating novices in the correct way to breed, and also show with both GCCF and TICA on a regular basis, and am well versed with the show world, having been involved in the management of the major GCCF Supreme Show in the UK for over 25 years. Genetics however is not my strong point.
