Question
I, like most Maine Coon owners, believe that my male yr. old pure bred is absolutely beautiful. I would like to know if he meets proper show specifications and how I would get him into a show. I would also need to know the basics of how to make him pose and other basics. Thank you for any information that you can provide me.

Answer
Hi Lindsey

I don't know what country you are in but your best action would be to join the breed club in your country and talk to other breeders. They can then advise if your cat is of the quality for showing and would be able to show you how to present him.  Again that would also depend on which country you are in and what registry you will show under.

I wish I could help you more but the information you have given is very basic for me to build from.

Expertise

I can give answers on cat breeding and showing having 'served' over 30 years in this particular field. I head up a Yahoo Group and also a cat club (NBA Cat Club) devoted to educating novices in the correct way to breed, and also show with both GCCF and TICA on a regular basis, and am well versed with the show world, having been involved in the management of the major GCCF Supreme Show in the UK for over 25 years. Genetics however is not my strong point.
