Question
I was looking for a persian tortie the regular black and red, I know there are the dilute blue and creme. The breeder I contacted said she had a chocolate and ? tortie which is rare. I never heard of that how rare is it and how do I look up how many registered cats of a spefic color are register a year.

Answer
Hi Lynne

The sort of information you are looking for is unlikely to be easily available.  The registeries I deal with do not publish that detail of information but only aggregate figures for Persians etc.  Your best course of action would be contact the registeries to see if they can provide that information for you.

Expertise

I can give answers on cat breeding and showing having 'served' over 30 years in this particular field. I head up a Yahoo Group and also a cat club (NBA Cat Club) devoted to educating novices in the correct way to breed, and also show with both GCCF and TICA on a regular basis, and am well versed with the show world, having been involved in the management of the major GCCF Supreme Show in the UK for over 25 years. Genetics however is not my strong point.

Experience

30 years of continuous cat breeding and showing with two major organisations.
