Question
hello my friends cat gave birth and she doesn't now what to do

can you give us some tips to taking care of the kittens!!!

Answer
Hi Kasadee
Mum has a natural instinct when it comes to her kittens so she will protect them as much as she can
Concentrate on her first
Make sure she has plenty of food and water and is a warm and dry place with her kittens
They should start moving about more after three weeks old so what you and your friend need to do is seek out all those small places where kittens could sneak into or under, like holes in the wall, fireplaces under beds and block them up if you can.
Also don't pick up the kittens too often.
If you can get some scales you could weigh them every day and make sure that they are gaining weight about 5 to 10 grams per day
Mum will also clean them and encourage them to go to the toilet so just watch that this is OK as well
Finally when they get to about four weeks old try them on cat food I like to feed them minced beef or pork only small amounts and make sure it is well thawed and in small pieces. They may also like fish, this is called weaning.
Soon they will be up and about then you two can play all day and all night with them. At about ten weeks they should go to the vets for their boosters and again at 13 weeks.
I hope this helps
