Question
Hello,

Im really worried about my mother cat, she gave birth to 5 kittens 3 weeks earlier and since she was pregnant she was sneezing alot and had a cold, i thought it's all the pregnancy effect but after she gave birth she didnt stop, I gave her antibiotics but it didnt work and now some of the kittens are sneezing, could you please help me know what's wrong with her ?? as I cant take her to vet while nursing I guess, am really new into this, thanx

Answer
Dear Wafa

Yes you can take the mum to the vets whilst nursing and indeed you must!  You may not have been giving her antibiotics that were right for her problem so she needs to see a vet to be assessed and the correct treatment given.

You also need to take the kittens too as if they are sneezing they will need treatment too.

Please don't delay as kittens can go from being lively to nearly dead very quickly at that age.

Expertise

I can give answers on cat breeding and showing having 'served' over 30 years in this particular field. I head up a Yahoo Group and also a cat club (NBA Cat Club) devoted to educating novices in the correct way to breed, and also show with both GCCF and TICA on a regular basis, and am well versed with the show world, having been involved in the management of the major GCCF Supreme Show in the UK for over 25 years. Genetics however is not my strong point.
