Subject: Breeding Himalayan with Birman

Question
Can I cross breed a male Birman with female himalayan?  Is there a name for this cross breed and can I sell them?  Will there be a demand for them?

Answer
Currently there are outcrosses of Biman to Himalayan for colour. There is no name for this outcross it is merely used to get red into the Birman lines.
I would not recommend you do the outcross just for the sake of a mating. I would suggest you contact other Birman beeders in your state or county and find out if any of them are doing this outcoss and if they need additonal breeders to help in the pogram.
The kittens are not pedigree but may well be desiable by people.
Please do be responsibile here, only do this if you feel it can benefit both breeds, other wise it is foolish in my book

Kind Regards

Ray
