Breeding and Showing Cats/Sick cat?

Question
My cat gave birth to her 2nd litter of kittens 5 1/2 weeks ago.  Over the last week or so she has been vomiting and appears to be losing weight.  Not only has she been vomiting, but some of the kittens have been vomiting after drinking her milk.  This happened with her first litter too and it only lasted a week or so, but she didn't look as skinny as she does this time and it's been over a week now.  Is this normal?  Is there anything I can do, other than bring her to the vet?  Not that I don't want to bring her in, but can't really afford it.

Answer
You really do need a vet as it is possible they need some antibiotics.  Kittens do tend to get dehydrated very quickly if they are vomiting and do need more prompt help than adults.

Once on antibiotics I think you will see a very quick difference in them all.

Expertise

I can give answers on cat breeding and showing having 'served' over 30 years in this particular field. I head up a Yahoo Group and also a cat club (NBA Cat Club) devoted to educating novices in the correct way to breed, and also show with both GCCF and TICA on a regular basis, and am well versed with the show world, having been involved in the management of the major GCCF Supreme Show in the UK for over 25 years. Genetics however is not my strong point.
