Question
QUESTION: hi i have just got myself a persian cat to breed from and the lady i got her from told me she was 4 years old but when she sent her papers by post i found out she 6 year old can she still have kittens

ANSWER: Hi Ursula

Below is a chart that mirrors feline age against human age
So a cat of 6 years old is about 40 years old in human terms.
That means she is capable of having kittens but you may be best taking care with her prior to and during her pregnancy, just like one would expect of a 40 year old having a baby.

She may have difficulty in becoming pregnant immediately so may need some encouragement to bolster her fertility.

Feline Age Human Age
4 months   7 years
6 months   10 years
8 months   13 years
1 year     16 years
2 years    24 years
4 years    32 years
6 years    40 years
8 years    48 years
10 years   56 years
12 years   64 years
14 years   72 years
16 years   80 years
18 years   88 years
20 years   96 years
21 years  100 years

Kind Regards

QUESTION: hi thanck you for your answer but what do you mean by bolstering her fertility how can i do that ? thank you

Answer
Hi Ursula

You could make sure she is well fed, has plenty of essential vitamins and minerals and is fit and healthy.

I would suggest a thorough check up by your vet to determine her health and maybe some bloods to ensure she is ovulating

Then on her next call ensure she is presented to a stud and have a supervised mating
