Breeding and Showing Cats/Breeding Problem

Question
Hello,
I'm having the same problem as another poster on this site.
I have a 1 1/2 year old female, and a 3 1/2 year old male. He has bred before, and she is willing. He tries to mount her, but it seems she is too long for him. He is way off target. She keeps trying to raise her behind higher for him... But they just sorta end up crawling around with him on her back. She and I both are pretty frustrated with him..lol. Please any suggestions would be helpful at this point.
Thanks!
Mary

Answer
Hi Mary

You may have to intervene with nature here and get up close and very personal with the mating ritual. It means you may have to guide him into her.

I am sorry to be corse but this is how it works.

The feline ritual demands that a spur extends from the penis and encoruages action inthe queen. So he will grab her neck and try to mount. You will have to guide his penis into her vagina and wait there whilst they copulate. Wen they finish she will then let you know he has mated with her.

Now you may have to be on hand for perhaps two or three more occasions to be sure she is impregnated. It works like this with horses and it is possible with cats.

I hope this helps
