Breeding and Showing Cats/pregnant siamese

Question
Hello - My 14 month old siamese was mated on 15th November, that makes her 5 weeks and 2 days pregnant. She has not experienced the "pinking" stage at 3 weeks, although she is eating more and has gained half a pound, and has a slight weight gain on the flanks. I am unable to take her to the vets as she hates the carrier box and the car journey.  I was issued with a mating certificate. Do cats miss out the pinking stage and could she be pregnant. Thank you

Answer
Hi Catherine
If she will not travel in the box, I would suggest you contact your vet and see if they will do a house visit. They can check to see if there are any foetuses inside her by palpation and listening with a stethoscope. They may even suggest an XRay to be sure.

She could be having a phantom pregnancy, it is highly possible and occurs quite regulalry with cats.

So although you have a mating certificate it just proves the two cats mated, it does not prove conception took place

Regards

Ray
