Breeding and Showing Cats/White spotting gene in Ragdolls

Question
Can you tell me if research has been carried out on using a Ragdoll with a Birman and what impact does the dominant white spotting gene of the Ragdoll have on the less dominant white gene of the Birman.

Denise

Answer
I'm not sure if there has been any official research done, but as you are aware the white spotting gene is totally different in the two breeds and the impact on the Birman would be random white spotting (which is undesirable and difficult to eradicate) instead of restricted to the paws.

Genetics however is not my strong point.
