Hi Jade

Firstly I would mention that your cat is very young to be having a litter, with a more normal age being 10 months old at mating, or later.

It may be that one of the kittens has died and the body is trying to reject the dead kitten or it may be a small infection.  Either way I would suggest that you talk to your vet about some antibiotics to cover her for the rest of the duration of her pregnancy.  The normal antibiotics used in this situation would be Synulox, Clavaseptin or Noroclav.  They are all the same but different manufacturers.

It is possible for a cat to have this happen and carry the rest of the kittens to full term so do get your vet involved so that the rest of the kittens stand a chance of surviving.

Expertise

I can give answers on cat breeding and showing having 'served' over 30 years in this particular field. I head up a Yahoo Group and also a cat club (NBA Cat Club) devoted to educating novices in the correct way to breed, and also show with both GCCF and TICA on a regular basis, and am well versed with the show world, having been involved in the management of the major GCCF Supreme Show in the UK for over 25 years. Genetics however is not my strong point.

Experience

30 years of continuous cat breeding and showing with two major organisations.
