Question

Skunk
For the last month or so my four year old cat, Skunk, has begun meowing incessantly, sometimes for an hour or more at a time.  Usually she does it by the door.  I can't get her to understand that she is NOT GOING OUT!  She is fixed so she's not in heat.  I try to play with her and love on her, but she's making me NUTS!  It's like having a baby that won't stop crying!  HELP!!!!!

Answer
Hi Amanda

You don't say how long you have had Skunk but I am wondering if she has know the outside world before she came to you?  Anyway that is not a good reason to let her out if you wish her to be an indoor cat.

My suggestion is that she may need a friend so wonder if you are in a position to take on another kitten/cat to keep her company?

I can give answers on cat breeding and showing having 'served' over 30 years in this particular field. I head up a Yahoo Group and also a cat club (NBA Cat Club) devoted to educating novices in the correct way to breed, and also show with both GCCF and TICA on a regular basis, and am well versed with the show world, having been involved in the management of the major GCCF Supreme Show in the UK for over 25 years. Genetics however is not my strong point.
