Answer
Hi Stacey

It would really depend on if there was a written contract.  If there was a contract then I would suggest you see a solicitor to see if it is clear.  If there is no written contract then you are not obliged to give a kitten back especially as you have paid £150.  I assume the £150 was for the stud service which could be exchanged for a kitten?  I must say that £150 for a pedigree kitten is very very cheap.  You don't say what breed as a lot of breeds would only attract £100/£150 for a stud fee, and as most kittens sell for nearer £300 upwards, then I feel the stud owner is being very unfair as they would in effect have a very cheap kitten if this is in replacement of a stud fee.

Expertise

I can give answers on cat breeding and showing having 'served' over 30 years in this particular field. I head up a Yahoo Group and also a cat club (NBA Cat Club) devoted to educating novices in the correct way to breed, and also show with both GCCF and TICA on a regular basis, and am well versed with the show world, having been involved in the management of the major GCCF Supreme Show in the UK for over 25 years. Genetics however is not my strong point.

Experience

30 years of continuous cat breeding and showing with two major organisations.
