Breeding and Showing Cats/Kitten color

Question

Hello,I am trying to figure out what color my himi is. He has pink paw pads. His mom's mom is a blue cream point and his mom's dad is a solid chocolate. His dad's dad is a solid chocolate and his dad's mom is a chocolate calico. My himi boy's parents are both solid chocolates. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I know that chocolate points have the pink paw pads and seal points don't. He has pink paw pads so can I assume by this that he is a chocolate point? He is 2 weeks old in this photo. Thanks so much, Linda

Answer
Hi Linda

I have to say he is very young to be worrying about the colour at the moment though I know how it is impossible to stop yourself guessing, as I have the same problems with Birmans.  However, looking at him and his nose, I would say he is going to be Chocolate.  His nose is too pale to be a Seal.  However I would reserve judgement for a few more weeks when I'm sure you will be in no doubt.

Expertise

I can give answers on cat breeding and showing having 'served' over 30 years in this particular field. I head up a Yahoo Group and also a cat club (NBA Cat Club) devoted to educating novices in the correct way to breed, and also show with both GCCF and TICA on a regular basis, and am well versed with the show world, having been involved in the management of the major GCCF Supreme Show in the UK for over 25 years. Genetics however is not my strong point.
