Question
Dear Dr Ray
First of all thank you a lot for your precious answers.believe me doctor they've always been so helpful to me.
Well, there is a question which actually has engaged my mind for ages.simply "is it possible for a pregnant queen to lose one or two kittens of her litter during a miscarriage and save other kittens of the litter?"I mean,an incomplete miscarriage somehow.is it possible?!I'm afraid it's impossible.right?
Thanks a lot
Soheil from Iran

Answer
Dear Solheil
Let me explain the nature of a cat pregnancy to you and then maybe you will understand more.
Every kitten in the litter is individual and held in a placental sac, that means they exist in the womb independently. So what this means is that the queen could lose a kitten during the pregnancy and the others can still survive. I have just attended a cat who had a miscarriage and lost one kitten out of the womb, had a mummified kitten still in the womb and delivered 5 healthy babies. So Dear Solheil al lis not lost through a miscarriage as long as there are some fetuses still in the womb. Does that help
