Question
hello.i have a white female persian ,she is two years and half .about three months ago she gave birth to her second little...a little of 4 kittens.her kittens were about 2 months old when surprisingly she started to make mating calls again,i was just shocked because i hadnot expected her to go in heat very soon as my other persian queens wait at least 6 months for next heat.even in her case, after fist little, she waited for one year for next heat.well...finally i let her mate again and now she is pregnant again about one month.i just want to know does this unpredictable pregnancy has any special affect on kittens or the mom?can this affect on the number of kittens or something?what should i feed my female cats in this situation?
thank you a lot

Answer
Hi Soheil
You have heard the expression to breed like rabbits, well cats can breed at an alarming rate as well. It is possible for a cat to have two or three litters per year. It all depends on a number of circumstances, the cat's hormones, the overall condition of the cat, the environment, diet.
Your little girl is very capable of having two litters per year and producing good healthy kittens. It is normal in over 50% of queens.
Some organisations do not take kindly to a cat having numerous litters in quick succession sa they feel it smacks of Back Yard Breeding and would recommend a period of six t otwelve months between litters so when she has this one it may be prudent to medicate her to prevent her making noise i.e. calling again. Piritin is a good medicate to reduce the hormone levels without interferring too much with the cat.
So in answer to your questions, this pregnancy will not unduly affect the kittens and mum and by now they should be weaned anyway. Also do feed her a healty diet fresh water every day and just keep an eye on her
