Bridal Gowns/maid of honor

Question
Hello, I rarely wear skirts, let alone dresses. I have no idea what kind of dress to pick as a maid of honor, some look like a babydol and others like for a mermaid. I am afraid I would make a big mistake no mater which dress I wear. So I am wondering if it is appropraite to wear a "business" suit.

Answer
Patricia,
A business suit would probably not be appropriate. The only exception is if the bride is wearing a casual or business suit herself. However, there are plenty of options besides babydolls and mermaids. A-line dresses tend to be the most flattering and easiest to wear. You might take a look at Bill Levkoff style 966 or Bari Jay style 760 for two easy options. I think for you in particular, you might be most comfortable in a two piece dupioni gown from Watters and Watters. It has the feel of suit but is dressy enough for a maid of honor to wear. Check out style 4453 for a classic look that will let you express yourself and still look approriate. Please remember that these are just suggestions, look around and you will see plenty of other styles. Some other designers to consider include: Mori Lee, Impression, Lazaro, Jim Hjelm, Alvina Valenta, Da Vinci, Alfred Angelo, Belsoie and B2. There are dozens of bridesmaid dress companies and if you look, you will definitly find what you want!
Happy hunting,
Susie
