Question
The player to my right leads and I don't have the suit so I trump.
The play progresses with the player to my left playing the lead
suit.  My partner is also out of the lead suit, but he cannot go over my trump card.  Does he have to trump or can he sluff off an different suit?

Here is the question:  (Pinochle)

Your partner MUST play a trump on that trick!

Since he cannot beat your trump, he must underruff with a lower trump.

(If he did have a higher trump, he would forced to CLIMB, and win the trick).

Alas, these are the Rules of the game!
