Question
I need to make the schedule for 16 players - each person to host 4 games over a period of 15 or 16 weeks, each week having 4 rounds - optimally player not playing another repeatedly. Possible?
Thank you

Answer
Hi,

The link below can be used as a schedule for 16 individual players over 15 weeks.

Give each player a number from 1-16. There are 4 charts, each with 6 columns and 15 rows. In the charts labeled Table 1, Table 2, Table 3 and Table 4 you can substitute Home 1, Home 2, Home 3 and Home 4, one chart for each location. For column 1, the heading "Round" can be changed to "week"...one row for each of 15 weeks. The next column "boards" can be ignored. The last 4 columns list the player numbers sitting N,S,E and W for that week at that venue. For example, at location 1 during week 1 the four players are numbers 16,1,2 and 3. As a suggestion, if you have multiple rounds during each session, you could have the four players change partners around the table.

As far as hosting, below is a suggestion for 15 weeks...12 players host 4 times each and the other 4 players host 3 times each. The assignments are not necessarily evenly spaced.

Week   Host players

 1    1-4-8-11
 2    2-13-10-12
 3    3-14-5-6
 4    16-9-15-8
 5    1-10-7-13
 6    6-3-4-11
 7    5-2-15-8
 8    16-7-12-9
 9    14-4-13-1
 10   10-15-11-3
 11   16-5-14-6
 12   8-1-2-7
 13   9-4-12-15
 14   10-6-5-3
 15   11-14-13-8

I can answer questions on bidding and on cardplay with the caveat that the former may necessarily involve some subjectivity. I have been playing tournament bridge for over 20 years and I have won several regional tournaments.
