QuestionWe will be leaving on a cruise in July 2010. We would like to arrive a day ahead and spend the day in London and the night in a hotel in Dover. We would be returning to London about 13 days later. I thought the train would be the best bet but can't seem to find much info.Is it a 3 hr ride to Dover? Where would we get off the train?
AnswerTo get a timetable, Google "National Rail Enquiries". To get to Dover, you leave London from Charing Cross Station or Victoria Station. Both have trains bound for Dover. You get off at Dover Priory. The station will be clearly marked and a conductor will call out the station. It takes 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
From Dover of course, take the train from Dover Priory. The trip will end and Charing Cross or Victoria station.
