Question
Hi, since you said you have travelled a lot using trains, do you know whether it is possible to leave a station and enter the city, while changing trains? I have tryed national rail etc. n have got nowhere, so wondered if you would know? i have an anytime ticket but only states the stations from n to where im going, not the station i need to change at. thank you

Answer
Hi - generally on the outward part of your journey, you cannot break the journey.

I assume you're talking about a UK train, so remember that it can often be cheaper to buy discounted single tickets now, rather than returns and also that you can save a lot of money by buying 2 x tickets, e.g. London to Bristol and Bristol to Penzance is much, much cheaper than London to Penzance.

Let me know if i can help further, please!

Expertise

As a full time, UK based, travel journalist, I travel almost constantly around the whole of the UK, searching out restaurants, hotels and "must see" places. Visitors for both business and pleasure are welcome to ask questions. I almost always travel by public transport, so questions on rail, air and coach / bus travel are also very welcome. I also regularly write about and use the "Eurostar" rail service between London and Continental Europe - which uses a tunnel under the English Channel - so I am able to help with any questions there, too.
