Question
Hi, I had to start a new question because the system wouldn't allow me to make anymore follow up questions.

Ok so about this letter that the person under 18 needs to have, what do you mean letter? Is is just a hand written letter from the parent/guardian, or is there some form i could get somewhere, or do you know of something specific that needs to be put in that letter?

Could you give me an example of what to write in the letter if it is a hand-written letter please?

Thank you

Answer
Hi - as I'm sure you'll understand, I can't give formal legal advice - however, if you take a look at
http://www.britishhighcommission.gov.uk/servlet/Front?pagename=OpenMarket/Xceler...
you will see this sentence:

"What is required for children travelling to the UK?

If a child under the age of 18 is travelling alone or accompanied by only one parent or other adults, we recommend that a letter of consent be carried from their parents or legal guardian stating that they are aware the child is travelling unaccompanied or accompanied by adults, also giving full details of who the child is travelling with.

Please contact our Embassy direct if that's not clear."

Happy to help!

Expertise

As a full time, UK based, travel journalist, I travel almost constantly around the whole of the UK, searching out restaurants, hotels and "must see" places. Visitors for both business and pleasure are welcome to ask questions. I almost always travel by public transport, so questions on rail, air and coach / bus travel are also very welcome. I also regularly write about and use the "Eurostar" rail service between London and Continental Europe - which uses a tunnel under the English Channel - so I am able to help with any questions there, too.
