Question
I am hoping to visit my family in Hull, England. I would like to go there for Christmas. Traveling from the U.S. from Dec. 22nd or 23rd until about Jan. 2nd or 3rd. This will be my first visit as an adult, I am 44 yrs old. I went once when I was a baby. I found my family after searching for more than 36 yrs, so this is a long awaited reunion. My main questions are...(1)which airport should I fly into and (2)what is the weather like about that time of the year, i.e. avg temps, snowfall etc.?

Answer
The weather will be similar to New York or Chicago, but never bitterly cold.  It almost never snows, and when it sometimes does snow it is not a heavy accumulation.  Take a couple of sweaters and a winter coat, and gloves to wear.

If you mean the city of Hull in the north of England not far from York, find a flight into Heathrow.  Take the Heathrow Express to Paddington Station, and then a taxi or tube to Kings Cross Station, and take the train to York.  From York you can take a bus or perhaps local train to Hull.

Have a great trip.

I have been traveling almost annually in England or Scotland as a tourist for the last 25 years, so I know quite a bit about train travel, car rental, B&Bs, tourist discounts, standard tourist sites, good places to eat, pubs, prices, and things to do off
