I have been traveling almost annually in England or Scotland as a tourist for the last 25 years, so I know quite a bit about train travel, car rental, B&Bs, tourist discounts, standard tourist sites, good places to eat, pubs, prices, and things to do off

Question
Hello Emoor,
We are planning a trip, by car, in the UK (England, Scotland and Wales) from mid-September till the end of October (45 days).
We plan to start in East Anglia (Ipswich+Norwich), go up north through Lincoln, York, Moors, Northumberland Park, etc., all this through the east coast (in general). Then we arrive to Edinburgh (we need to be there after 15 days), drive to the west coast of Scotland (Skye Island, etc.), go up north, east Scotland, and then back south to England. Then we plan to go to the Lake District, Wales, south to Cornwall, south of England and back to London.
We currently live in London, so we don't need to "spend" time there.
My question is if we have enough time to spend on less popular places, or should we just go to the most popular? There are a lot of small villages, beaches, castles, etc. that it is just so hard to choose from.
Sorry for the long description, and thank you very much for your help.
Best regards,

Answer
You will have plenty of time to visit certain special places that you have always wanted to see, whatever they are.  My suggestion, in addition, is to take plenty of time to visit small, unknown villages, and spend several days walking their footpaths, visiting their pubs and churches, and getting the know the area.  So many of these little-known spots are unique, and they have wonderful people and history.  You will probably meet people who have never visited London.  Take advantage of the time you have to get to know these places.
