Question
QUESTION: Hello, I would like to find a reliable company to pick my elderly Mother and myself up at Harwick International to London with sightseeing in London included. I think we would like to find a hotel near Harrods for shopping. We are only there one night and then need to taxi to Heathrow. I would greatly appreciate any and all advice.

ANSWER: Dear Phyllis

Do you mean Harwich? where the cruise ships come in? let me know and I will have a look for you

QUESTION: Yes, so very sorry......we arrive on the Jewel of the Seas.

Answer
Hi Phyllis

Thanks for that.

I am afraid I don't have any personal experience of this kind of thing but I have looked up answers for lots of people.

There seems to be lots of limo companies that will take you from Harwich to London - you can google search for those. You could also cross check their credentials on tripadvisor.com which has comments posted by people who have actually used the services. Just put Harwich to London in the search site.

You can email the companies to get prices and also ask them about sight seeing. Altenatively you could just get them to take you to the hotel and then book a London based car to take you out and also to the airport the next day. I am sure your hotel will be able to help with that.

I have used a company and the telephone number is +44 20 7720 9688
They might pick you from Harwich and do all the other things you want but I have only used them for going from my home to Heathrow.

Regarding hotels I don't really know that area but if you check on hotels.com they will give you a list in the area and you could again cross check that with comments on tripadvisor - use the name of the hotel and location in the search site. Knightsbridge is the area you want.

I am sure the hotel will book you a car to take you to Heathrow and that would be cheaper than using a taxi. It should be about £35.00 maximum.

Hope this has helped - if you come up with some car companies or hotels I would be happy to do some research here for you.

I have been living in London for the last 20 years so can answer general enquiries relating to the city. I also live near the British Museum so I can answer questions on accomodation in that area. I have also travelled extensively in the US so I can offer advice to Americans coming to London on a cross cultural basis.
