Question
I will be arriving on a crusie ship in Harwick, England and flying out of Heathrow.  We will be staying two nights in London.  Could you suggest what area we might stay that is  convenient to sigbts and airport?   Thanks for your help.

Answer
Hi there

I would suggest staying somewhere central in the Russell Square area as that is convenient for sight seeing and theatre and also for the tube to heathrow.

there is a very nice hotel called Jurys on Great Russell Street which fits the bill or several smaller hotels on Gower Street but if you choose one of them ask for a room at the back as the road is very busy. You will find them on Google. Nearest tube is Tottenham Court Road or Russell Square.

Another great option is the Marriott at County Hall or its cheaper neighbour the Premier Inn at County Hall. They are both right next to the London Eye with views to Parliament across the river but the marriott is much more expensive. If you stay there nearest tube is waterloo and that will laos take you to Paddington for the heathrow Express the fast expensive way to get to Heathrow.

If you have lots of luggage you might want to take a cab to Heathrow in any case...

Have a good stay

Graham

Hope this helps

I have been living in London for the last 20 years so can answer general enquiries relating to the city. I also live near the British Museum so I can answer questions on accomodation in that area. I have also travelled extensively in the US so I can offer advice to Americans coming to London on a cross cultural basis.
