Question
Hello, Graham.

I see by your answer to another questioner, that you do "some editing" (in the UK).

God only knows why, but the rule of thumb always seems to have been that "what cost a dollar in the US costs a pound in the UK. So. What about book editing (General and Copy) in the UK? In the US, General Editing seems to cost around $0.04 per word. and copy-editing, $0.01.  Can you give me an however broad idea of what these services cost in the UK today?

Dan

Answer
Hi Dan

We generally charge editing on an hourly basis here at £25.00... We would expect someone to edit 1000 words at least in that time..

I have not differentiated betweeen book and copy editing...

A publisher might give you a better idea overall...

I have been living in London for the last 20 years so can answer general enquiries relating to the city. I also live near the British Museum so I can answer questions on accomodation in that area. I have also travelled extensively in the US so I can offer advice to Americans coming to London on a cross cultural basis.
