Question
I will be traveling to the UK in August, arriving in London, and want to visit a friend in Sunderland before heading up to Edinburgh.Should I buy a round-trip ticket London-Edinburgh and get off the train in Sunderland, if possible, or buy a round-trip ticket London-Sunderland and then another from Sunderland-Edinburgh?

Answer
Hi Susan,

You can't break your journey on one ticket.  It has to be completed on the same day.

You will find buying single tickets is usually cheaper than buying return tickets, anyway.
